For the domains shown in the following list there is on-going work (e.g. to produce data structure definitions) at the international level. However, this list of implementation domains is not exhaustive: considerable experience has already been gained and there are examples of very successful implementations at a smaller scale (e.g. at a regional level) and for several domains. There are dozens of implementations for some of the domains listed below, but also some implementations in several other domains.

The classification used below is the United Nations Classification of Statistical Activities (CSA Rev. 1, October 2009). The structure of the classification, as well as its explanatory notes, can be consulted here.
