Description and main purpose of the software
The development and maintenance of the .Stat Suite is overseen by the Statistical Information System Collaboration Community (SIS-CC), led by OECD, a group of statistical organisations with common goals, sharing similar needs in terms of data dissemination and production, who are interested in mutualising costs and sharing knowledge, and committed to foster common standards (SDMX). The Community develops open source digital solutions to support the official statistics world at large.

The solution, the .Stat Suite, is an SDMX native standard-based, componentised, open source platform for the efficient production and dissemination of high-quality statistical data. The product roadmap aims at progressively covering the full (macro) data lifecycle, enabling organisations to bring further value as ‘Trusted quality data’ producers, empowering them with ‘Quality assurance by design’ and ‘Advanced workflow & reporting’ mechanisms, ‘high performance calculation’ and import and export tasks to enable efficiency gains and quality of user experience in data operations.

The Community also works in close partnership with Eurostat enabling the reuse of open source and common modules from the SDMX Reference Infrastructure package. The .Stat Suite is developed under a continuous user driven product delivery model, with a state-of-the-art software delivery (DevOps) mechanism to combine transparency, agility, multiplicity of contributors, and simplicity of deployment on the cloud, software quality and security. ‬

Key features: The .Stat Suite has three main modules:

  • .Stat Data Explorer: A front-office application for easy finding, understanding and using of data through an efficient well-tuned navigation and search approach, appropriate data previews and contextual metadata, and download in standard formats, APIs or share features.
  • .Stat Data Lifecycle Manager: A set of adaptive back-office modules to efficiently and timely produce and (re-)use high quality statistical data by defining, running, automating, controlling and evaluating the underlying data processes.
  • .Stat Core: A highly performing, secure SDMX Data Store based on standard protocols, to store and retrieve statistical data, structural and referential metadata, data process information and security settings.
