The SDMX Sponsor organizations commit to working together to provide strategic direction for the modernization of official statistics in the era of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Recognizing both the opportunities and risks posed by generative AI, we are aligning efforts to ensure that official statistics remain trusted, accessible, and AI readable, reinforcing their role as a cornerstone of evidence-based policymaking.

As Sponsors of the SDMX standard, our institutions will serve as pathfinders, testing technologies, governance arrangements, and solutions that enable official data to be integrated effectively into emerging AI systems. We will be working together to build a Global Trusted Data Commons, together with national and international partners, legal experts, and technology leaders to make official statistics discoverable, machine-readable, and globally usable.

We welcome the UN Statistical Commission’s leadership in calling for official statistics to be made AI-ready. We will complement and support the broader strategy led by the UN Statistical Commission, ensuring that official statistics remain a trusted global public good in the digital age. Ensuring that statistics are accessible, interoperable, and enriched with high-quality metadata is essential to safeguard trust and to strengthen the global statistical system.
