The 2016 SDMx Expert Group Meeting on Statistical Data and Metadata Exchange took place in Aguascalientes, Mexico, on 17-20 October 2016 and was hosted by the Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Geografía (INEGI).
The 4 days covered a 2-day capacity building training session followed by a 2-day meeting.
The meeting focused on a number of areas, including:
- exchange of statistical data and metadata actually taking place or being implemented between organisations;
- presenting the new SDMx standards and future enhancements;
- software developments and tools which take advantage of SDMx standards;
- the role of SDMx in standards-based modernisation of official statistics and related work being carried out by the High-Level Group for the Modernisation of Statistical Production and Services (HLG-MOS);
- achieving the SDMx 2020 Roadmap.
The capacity building training session covered how to implement an SDMx architecture for reporting and dissemination for statisticians and IT staff. The course had a hands-on approach based on case studies related to the National Accounts and other data domains.
