SDMX for Macroeconomic Statistics: new packages for data structure definitions (DSD)

The Ownership Group for SDMX implementation in Macro-Economic Statistics is pleased to inform you that updated DSDs have been made available for Balance of Payments (BOP), Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and National Accounts (NA). A new optional attribute for international data cooperation (DISS_ORG) has been added to the DSDs and the coding for observation status has again been fully aligned between BOP, FDI and NA, and uses the newest code lists published on the SDMX Global Registry. The new package now also fully respects SDMX versioning guidelines, to be published soon on the SDMX website.

In this updated National Accounts release, a new DSD has been added for reporting data according to the IMF Government Finance Statistics Manual (GFSM), including full bridging support to the existing NA_SEC DSD. In respect of the latter, additional codes have also been added to existing NA code lists. Furthermore, some other minor additions have been included based on comments received from data providers and international organisations. They relate to dissemination and international data cooperation needs. No updated Excel templates have been published; all templates are fully compatible with earlier and newer versions of the DSDs.

In the updated BOP and FDI releases, some regional aggregates and integrity rules have been cleaned up. Furthermore, some other minor changes have been included to keep aligned to the shared code lists. Since the FDI DSD was not updated in the last release cycle, it also incorporates changes done to shared code lists in BOP/NA versions 1.4.
