Webinar on SDMX User Forum and on SDMX Capacity Development Initiatives

During the next Global Network Webinar on Tuesday, 21 March 08:30-09:30 AM (check your time) Abdulla Gozalov, Alexander Loschky (UNSD), and Siddhesh Kaushik (World Bank) will present the new SDMX User Forum (hosted on the Global Network on Yammer) and on SDMX Capacity Development Initiatives.

The speakers will introduce you to the new SDMX User Forum which is hosted on the Global Network of Data Officers and Statisticians, a platform for knowledge sharing, problem solving, and collaboration. On the Forum users of SDMX are invited to ask or answer questions, find solutions, and connect with experts and peers. It is designed as a space to generate ideas, receive feedback as well as to access information on case studies and implementation scenarios. The Forum is open to all users, irrespective of their level of experience and SDMX knowledge, starting at beginner level up to experienced SDMX users, such as data modelers and system developers. In addition, the speakers will present ongoing SDMX capacity development initiatives, including the SDMX Foundation Course on ADB eLearn.

The Speakers

Abdulla is a Statistician at the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD). He has designed and developed many statistical information systems, and for the last 12 years has focused on data dissemination and exchange, as well as running capacity development projects for National Statistical Offices. Abdulla is UNSD’s focal point on SDMX, a member of the SDMX Secretariat, and coordinator of the Working Group on SDMX for SDG indicators.

Alexander works in UNSD’s Statistical Capacity Management Section. He is the developer of the UN Global Calendar of Statistical Events and the co-lead of the Global Network and its webinar series. Alexander joined the UN in 2013 as an Economic Affairs Officers at UN ECLAC in Santiago de Chile where he was responsible for economic forecasting before he transferred in 2015 to UNSD to work first on classifications and industry statistics and later on capacity development. In his life before the UN, Alexander worked for many years on foreign trade statistics and indicators systems at the Federal Statistical Office of Germany and at the EU Joint Research Centre.

Siddhesh works as a Senior Data Scientist in the Development Economics Data Group of the World Bank. He leads several multi-agency partnership initiatives like the World Integrated Trade Solution (WITS), Statistical Data and Metadata Exchange (SDMX) and the Data Innovation Fund. With an engineering background, his focus is on data analytics and automation using latest technology and innovative methods to drive efficiencies in data systems.
