VTL v2.2 released

The latest published version of the Validation and Transformation Language (VTL), VTL v2.2, was officially released in August 2026.

The VTL v2.2 package includes the following documentation and technical material:

  • User Manual – introducing the main characteristics of VTL, its key assumptions, and the Information Model on which the language is based.
  • Reference Manual – providing a comprehensive description of the VTL operator library, organised by category and illustrated with examples.
  • VTL Grammar – expressed in Extended Backus-Naur Form (EBNF), providing the technical notation used to parse VTL expressions and available as a G4 file.
  • Technical Notes – providing additional guidance and information to support VTL implementation.

Public review underway

A public review of VTL v2.2 is currently underway to gather feedback and views from users and other stakeholders.
