Name of the tool: Data Structure Wizard
Owner: Eurostat
Description and main purpose of the software
The Data Structure Wizard (DSW) is a Java standalone desktop application that supports version 2.0 & 2.1 of the SDMX standard. It can be used both offline (with a local repository) and on-line (connected to an SDMX Registry), depending on each user’s preference and access rights.
Another facility of the application is that it offers the possibility to create dynamically a data message template for a specified DSD. These templates can be populated and then sample data files created for transformation to an HTML format and saved locally.
The DSW also provides a mechanism for importing/exporting SDMX-ML 2.0 & 2.1 DSDs and a mechanism for importing/exporting DSDs from/to GESMES/TS structure files. Furthermore, SDMX-ML 2.0 & 2.1 DSDs can be validated against SDMX standard schemes.
In the on-line mode, the tool communicates with any standard-compliant SDMX Registry (e.g. Eurostat SDMX Registry) offering in the same time all the functionalities provided in the offline mode, too. The application offers the possibility to connect to a SDMX Registry and update the local repository, if the right permissions are granted (query privilege). Moreover, after editing the DSD artefacts locally, the edited (or a new) artefact can be submitted to the SDMX Registry (“maintain” privilege).
More information about the application can be found on SDMX Info Space.
