Description and main purpose of the software
The Common SDMX API is a set of interfaces that are adhered to by software that guarantee software interoperability.
– A simple and faithful representation of the SDMX Information Model packaged in functional modules for reading, writing, querying, validating, storing, and retrieving data and metadata
– Insulates the software from the syntax and version implementation

Implementations of these interfaces are available in both Java and .NET that support all SDMX versions and syntaxes
– the software itself does not have knowledge of the versions and syntax except for the readers and writers
– it is simple to add new implementations to support new formats, even non-SDMX formats.
